Central Asian University is proud to announce the publication of a new research article co-authored by Dr. Sedigheh Sahkib Kotamjani, a faculty member of the university. The article has been published in Discover Artificial Intelligence, a Q1-ranked international journal by Springer Nature, highlighting its strong academic impact and rigorous peer-review process.
Titled “Mapping the Emerging Research Landscape on Applications of ChatGPT in Language Teacher Education: A Systematic Narrative Literature Review,” the article offers a comprehensive and systematic overview of recent international research on the use of ChatGPT and generative artificial intelligence in language teacher education. The study analyzes empirical research published between 2023 and 2025, identifying emerging research trends, pedagogical applications, and methodological approaches in this rapidly developing field.
The authors examine how artificial intelligence technologies are reshaping language teacher preparation, professional development, instructional design, and reflective teaching practices. The review demonstrates that ChatGPT is increasingly being used as a pedagogical and mediational tool, supporting language teachers in lesson planning, materials development, feedback generation, and instructional reflection.
At the same time, the article critically addresses key ethical, pedagogical, and institutional challenges associated with the integration of AI into teacher education. These include issues of AI literacy, academic integrity, cultural sensitivity, and the responsible and sustainable use of generative AI in educational contexts. By adopting a balanced and critical perspective, the study emphasizes both the opportunities and the responsibilities that accompany the use of AI in education.
This publication represents a significant academic achievement for Central Asian University and reflects the institution’s growing contribution to high-impact international research. It also underscores the university’s commitment to advancing innovation in teaching and learning through artificial intelligence and highlights the scholarly leadership of CAU faculty in global discussions on AI and education.
