CAU Students Conduct Oral Health Education Outreach in Tashkent Schools

Fourth-year students of the Dental School at Central Asian University, under the supervision of Dr. Nozima Razakova, conducted a series of structured outreach visits to schools across Tashkent, covering more than 15 general education institutions.
The initiative was designed to improve oral health literacy among school-aged children and to promote preventive approaches to dental care. During the visits, students delivered a comprehensive program that combined short lectures, interactive discussions, and practical demonstrations. The sessions focused on core topics such as proper brushing techniques, the role of nutrition in oral health, early signs of common dental conditions, and the importance of regular preventive check-ups.
Particular emphasis was placed on engaging formats that encourage participation and retention of information. Students incorporated visual materials, live demonstrations, and question-and-answer segments to ensure accessibility of the content for different age groups. In several schools, the program also included basic screening elements and individual consultations, allowing students to apply their clinical knowledge in a supervised, real-world setting.
The project reflects the university’s approach to integrating academic training with community-based practice and preventive healthcare. It contributes to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, specifically SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being) and SDG 4 (Quality Education), by expanding access to essential health knowledge and supporting early health education.
Through this initiative, CAU Dental School students gained practical experience in patient communication and health education, while participating schools received structured guidance on maintaining oral hygiene and preventing common dental conditions.
