Central Asian University (CAU) is delighted to announce its recently completed academic and research visit to the Faculty of Tourism and Rural Development at the Josip Juraj Strossmayer University of Osijek, Croatia, under the ERASMUS+ Programme.
As part of this international collaboration, Prof. Dr. Erdogan Ekiz, Founding Dean of the School of Hospitality Management and Tourism, and Prof. Dr. Orhan Uludag, Vice Dean of Research, have delivered undergraduate-level ERASMUS teaching sessions and conducted a Quantitative Research Workshop designed to enhance joint research and publication opportunities.
During the visit, CAU representatives engaged in a series of strategic meetings with leading academic figures — Dean of the Faculty, Prof. Dr. Ante Lončarić, Vice-Dean for Development and Business, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Berislav Andrlić, and Vice-Dean for Science and International Cooperation, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Marko Šostar. These discussions focus on future steps for institutional collaboration, research initiatives, and faculty and student mobility between the two universities. Moreover, The International Conference Vallis Aurea conference that will be co-organized by both universities is discussed.
Prof. Dr. Erdogan Ekiz is also introduced the CAU Journal of Applied Research, encouraging academic exchange and inviting the Faculty of Tourism and Rural Development to contribute scholarly works for future publication.
A special highlight of the visit includes a meeting with the Mayor of Požega, Prof. Dr. Borislav Miličević, where both sides emphasize the importance of strengthening international academic cooperation and community engagement. The CAU delegation is also visited the Faculty’s practical laboratories, wine production fields, and research facilities, gaining valuable insights into applied learning practices within tourism and hospitality education.
This visit represents another major step forward in Central Asian University’s mission to build meaningful international partnerships and to create transformative educational and research opportunities for students, faculty, and the wider academic community in Uzbekistan and beyond.
