On October 31, the official opening of the International Medical Conference “The Health of the Nation 2025” took place at the CAEx exhibition center. The event is organized by Central Asian University (CAU) in cooperation with the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
The first day focused on combating antimicrobial resistance (AMR) — one of the most serious global health challenges. The conference brought together leading experts from Uzbekistan, the United States, and other countries to share scientific findings, discuss clinical practices, and present innovative strategies for the rational use of antibiotics.
The event began with welcoming speeches by Kamran Gulamov, Rector of Central Asian University, and Elmira Basitkhanova, Deputy Minister of Health of Uzbekistan. The first day was moderated by Dr. Abdurakhim Toychiev, MD, PhD.
Key speakers on Day 1 included:
- Dr. Jacob Scott (Cleveland Clinic, USA) — Professor and Researcher, with a presentation on “The Future of Antibiotics and Alternative Approaches”;
- Dr. Fuat Qurbanov (AKFA Medline University Hospital) — Director of Clinical Research, with a talk on “Building Preparedness for Innovation in Pharmacotherapy”;
- Dr. Dilshoda Akhmedova (AMR Research Center, RSNPMCNMP) — shared results of a large-scale study on public awareness and attitudes toward antibiotic use in Tashkent;
- Dr. Nargiza Otamuratova (CAU School of Medicine) — presented findings on epidemiological monitoring of Klebsiella pneumoniae strain resistance;
- Dr. Abhishek Deshpande (Cleveland Clinic, USA) — Infectious Disease Specialist, discussed antimicrobial stewardship programs and sepsis management.
The conference served as a major platform for professional exchange, scientific dialogue, and strengthening international collaboration in healthcare and biomedical research.
