The First Step Toward Real Projects: CAU School of Architecture and Design Launches Collaboration with GIZ and the Ministry of Economy and Finance

The School of Architecture and Design at Central Asian University (CAU) held an important meeting with representatives of the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) — the German Agency for International Cooperation — and the Ministry of Economy and Finance of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
The GIZ delegation included Ms. Beate Schoreit, along with experts from international programs operating in Uzbekistan in the fields of sustainable regional development and urban planning.
The meeting marked the beginning of a strategic partnership aimed at engaging CAU students and faculty in real, practice-oriented interdisciplinary projects focused on regional development, urban initiatives, and sustainable territorial solutions.
During the discussions, the parties outlined key areas of collaboration, including:

- involving CAU students in real regional development projects, including spatial planning, infrastructure, and community design;

- integrating international standards and sustainable architectural principles into CAU’s academic curriculum;

- developing innovative master plans, eco-friendly concepts, and smart city models to improve urban quality and economic efficiency;

- organizing practical workshops, seminars, and field studies with the participation of GIZ experts and government representatives.
A Tripartite Partnership: Government — Academia — International Expertise
The cooperation is based on the synergy of three key partners:

The Ministry of Economy and Finance of the Republic of Uzbekistan — providing institutional and policy support;

GIZ — contributing international knowledge, methodologies, and best practices in sustainable development;

CAU students and faculty — bringing creative vision and academic expertise to bridge theory with real-world architectural practice.
As a result of the meeting, the parties expressed mutual interest in long-term collaboration that will allow CAU students to participate in major national and international projects and contribute to the practical development of Uzbekistan’s future spatial and urban planning initiatives.
