Decent Work and Economic Growth
Promote sustained, inclusive and sustainable economic growth, full and productive employment and decent work for all.

The launch of the CAU Career Center in March 2024 marked a significant turning point in Central Asian University’s approach to education, employability, and sustainable development. CAU recognized that in the twenty-first century, higher education is not only about equipping students with theoretical knowledge but also about ensuring that they graduate with the professional skills, experiences, and networks required to succeed in the labor market. With this vision in mind, the Career Center was created to bridge the gap between academic learning and professional employment. Its establishment reflects the university’s commitment to aligning with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 8 (SDG 8), which emphasizes the importance of decent work, productive employment, and sustainable economic growth.

The Career Center quickly became a cornerstone of the university’s institutional strategy. It was designed not only to prepare students for the world of work but also to engage directly with employers, to support graduates in their career journeys, and to contribute to the broader economic development of the region.
Graduates of the Accounting & Finance programs are now contributing to sustainable finance initiatives, eco-related auditing, and corporate social responsibility projects. Those from the ELT department have become teachers, project managers, and research assistants, many of them working in international education settings that advance access to quality education worldwide. Within the School of Medicine, graduates are employed as doctors, nurses, and healthcare specialists, directly contributing to community well-being and the realization of sustainable healthcare systems.

Equally important, graduates from International Business and Economics have found positions in sustainable trade and eco-friendly entrepreneurship, supporting responsible consumption and production patterns as well as climate action.

The Computer Science department has produced graduates working as data analysts, AI engineers, and software developers in sustainable technology projects, while those from Architecture and Design are now active in sustainable construction and urban design.

These outcomes demonstrate that CAU graduates are not only securing employment but also contributing to broader social and economic development priorities. The Career Center’s work in guiding students toward such pathways underscores its importance as a driver of SDG 8.

The fact that such a large proportion of graduates are employed in green jobs highlights CAU’s role as a leader in preparing professionals for the future economy.
