Central Asian University Welcomes Dr Evgeniya Shalaeva as the New Dean of the Medical School

Central Asian University is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr Evgeniya Shalaeva, MD, MPH, CHES, PhD candidate, as the new Dean of the Medical School. Dr Shalaeva's remarkable background and outstanding accomplishments make her a valuable addition to our academic community.

Bringing over 12 years of clinical and research experience in the healthcare sector, Dr Shalaeva is a renowned Cardiologist and specialist in instrumental diagnostics in internal medicine and Cardiology. Her contributions in the field of medicine have gained recognition on both national and international levels, establishing her as a distinguished leader in cardiovascular diseases, preventive medicine, public health, and health management.

Dr Shalaeva's academic journey has been equally impressive. She graduated with honours from the Tashkent Medical Academy and held master's degrees in Cardiology and Public Health from esteemed institutions in Uzbekistan and the USA, respectively. Currently pursuing her PhD in cardiovascular diseases at the University of Bern, Switzerland, Dr Shalaeva is dedicated to further expanding her expertise.

Her commitment to education and research is evident through her role as Course Leader of the MSc Public Health Science program at Westminster International University in Tashkent. Her leadership has led to the accreditation and validation of the program as the first in Central Asia, highlighting her dedication to advancing healthcare education.

Furthermore, Dr Shalaeva's dedication to global health improvement is reflected in her research at institutions like the Albert Einstein University College of Medicine. Her involvement as a national expert with the World Bank Group on developing the Uzbekistan Health Systems Strategy 2030 (Public Health block) underscores her passion for shaping healthcare policies.

In joining Central Asian University, Dr Shalaeva is poised to create an environment of innovation and collaboration within the Medical School. Her comprehensive approach, rooted in evidence-based medicine, and her belief in empowering patients' right of choice will undoubtedly contribute to the growth and success of our institution.
