Academic Excellence in Action: CAU Dental School Professors Contribute to Elsevier Publication
Central Asian University proudly announces a significant academic achievement by the School of Dentistry. CAU professors Dr. Nithin Kumar, Dr. Riddhi Chawla, and Dr. Niladri Maiti have jointly contributed a book chapter published by Elsevier and made available on ScienceDirect, marking an important milestone in interdisciplinary medical research.
The chapter, titled “Machine learning-based gait freezing detection and classification in Parkinson’s patients using biometric insights” (Chapter 15), focuses on freezing of gait (FoG) — one of the most debilitating motor symptoms of Parkinson’s disease, which severely impacts patients’ mobility and overall quality of life.
In their work, the authors explore advanced approaches to FoG detection through the use of machine learning algorithms and biometric data analysis. These methods enable more accurate identification of gait abnormalities and support the development of personalized treatment strategies. The chapter also examines real-world applications, including wearable technologies and mobile health solutions, and outlines future research directions such as deep learning–based prediction models and multimodal gait analysis.
This joint publication highlights CAU’s strong commitment to research excellence, innovation, and global academic collaboration, reinforcing the university’s role as a contributor to cutting-edge scientific knowledge at the international level.
