Focused on Real-World Solutions: How CAU Alumnus Found Opportunities Helped Build a Career in Financial Analysis

Shukhrat Abdullaev enrolled in the Economics program at the Business School of Central Asian University in 2021. Throughout his studies, he not only gained a strong academic foundation in economics and finance but also acquired valuable hands-on experience through Bloomberg Lab. Today, Shukhrat works as a Financial Analyst at Bloomberg Lab at CAU and believes that his university education played a key role in shaping his professional interests and career path.

During his studies, Shukhrat was determined to go beyond the classroom and make the most of every opportunity available. A turning point came in his third year when he joined the newly established Bloomberg Lab project. Working with financial markets, investments, and analytical tools allowed him to immerse himself in the field and see firsthand how theoretical knowledge is applied in practice.

“It was at Bloomberg Lab that I truly discovered the world of financial markets and investments. This experience helped me understand the direction in which I wanted to develop my career,” says Shukhrat.

After graduating from the university in 2025, he was offered the opportunity to continue working with the CAU team, this time as a Financial Analyst.

Today, his responsibilities include analyzing financial markets, companies, and economic trends. According to Shukhrat, what attracts him most to the profession is its dynamic nature and the constant need to work with new information, identify patterns, and make data-driven decisions.

When choosing a university, Shukhrat looked for a modern learning environment, a practical approach to education, and opportunities for professional growth. Although he had always been interested in economics, it was during his university years that he gained a clear understanding of the career path he wanted to pursue.

Faculty members, practical coursework, and participation in projects closely aligned with real-world business and financial challenges all played a significant role in this process.

“The university taught me to take responsibility for results, find solutions independently, and apply knowledge in practice. These skills help me every day in my professional work,” he notes.

Among the competencies that have proven most valuable in his career, Shukhrat highlights analytical thinking, data analysis, self-directed learning, and effective teamwork.

In his opinion, graduates of Central Asian University stand out for their adaptability, initiative, and readiness to respond quickly to change.

Reflecting on his student years, he admits that one of the biggest challenges was choosing a specific professional direction. Practical experience, continuous exploration of new opportunities, and a willingness to participate in different projects ultimately helped him make that decision.

Today, Shukhrat encourages students not to postpone their professional development until their final years of study and to take advantage of every opportunity to gain practical experience.

“Don’t limit yourself to academics alone. Develop new skills, participate in projects, gain experience, and continuously work on self-improvement. These are the things that help build a successful career.”
