Central Asian University Faculty at TESOL International Conference 2025
Central Asian University (CAU) was well represented at the prestigious TESOL International Conference 2025, held at Webster University in Tashkent on October 10–11. Dr. Sedigheh Shakib Kotamjani, Prof. Maftuna Artikova, and Prof. Daniel Yulin made significant contributions to the conference, which provided a dynamic platform for educators and researchers to discuss the future of language education.
Dr. Shakib Kotamjani and Prof. Artikova presented an innovative research project exploring the impact of AI avatars on Uzbek learners' speaking performance. Their findings demonstrated how immersive AI technologies can improve fluency, pronunciation, and overall learner engagement, offering exciting prospects for enhancing language acquisition.
In a separate session, Dr. Shakib and Prof. Yulin, along with their research collaborators, presented the study “Understanding Teacher Agency through an Ecological Lens: Insights from English Instructors in Uzbekistan.” This research delved into how teachers navigate educational reforms, make pedagogical decisions, and adapt their practices in a changing educational landscape.
Both research papers are set to be submitted to prominent indexed journals, highlighting CAU's dedication to advancing cutting-edge research in language education and educational technology.
