Central Asian University Strengthens Its Position in THE Impact Rankings 2026
Central Asian University has improved its performance in the Times Higher Education (THE) Impact Rankings 2026, one of the world's most prestigious university rankings that measures higher education institutions' contributions to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The THE Impact Rankings assess universities not only on the quality of education and research, but also on their broader societal impact, including sustainability, international collaboration, healthcare, equality, and contributions to addressing global challenges.
According to the THE Impact Rankings 2026, officially released on June 24, Central Asian University achieved a significant improvement compared to its debut performance last year. Having previously been placed in the 1001–1500 band globally, the University moved up by approximately 500 positions, reflecting its rapid institutional development and growing international recognition.
In addition to its overall performance, Central Asian University earned recognition across five United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, highlighting the University's commitment to creating a positive and lasting impact through education, research, and community engagement.
SDG 2 – Zero Hunger
Central Asian University was ranked in the 401–600 band among 731 universities worldwide. This category evaluates universities' contributions to food security research, efforts to combat hunger and malnutrition, support for sustainable agriculture, and initiatives aimed at improving access to nutritious food while promoting social responsibility.
SDG 3 – Good Health and Well-being
The University was placed in the 601–800 band among 1,254 universities globally. This ranking recognizes institutions for their contributions to healthcare, medical research, the education of future healthcare professionals, and initiatives that promote the health and well-being of students, staff, and the wider community.
SDG 4 – Quality Education
Central Asian University achieved a position in the 401–600 band among 1,335 universities worldwide. The assessment considers the quality and accessibility of education, innovative teaching practices, research excellence, academic reputation, and the University's contribution to developing highly qualified professionals.
SDG 5 – Gender Equality
CAU was ranked in the 801–1000 band among 1,095 universities globally. This category evaluates institutional policies and practices that promote equal opportunities for women and men, support women's leadership, maintain gender balance among students and staff, and foster an inclusive academic and professional environment.
SDG 17 – Partnerships for the Goals
The University was placed in the 801–1000 band among 1,610 universities worldwide. This indicator measures universities' commitment to international collaboration, joint research and educational initiatives, and partnerships with governments, industry, and international organizations to advance the Sustainable Development Goals.
