Central Asian University’s SDG Innovation Lab successfully hosted its first SDG Day event titled “Establishing the Foundations of Sustainable Development: Health, Poverty Reduction and Food Security.” The event marked the official launch of the SDG Day series at CAU and brought together academic experts and international partners to discuss key sustainable development priorities.
The event opened with welcome remarks by Ms. Shirin Yunusova, Vice Rector for Research and Innovation at Central Asian University. In her speech, she emphasized the important role of universities in advancing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through research, innovation, and collaboration.
Following the opening, Prof. Elif Kutlugun, Head of the SDG Innovation Lab, introduced the mission of the Lab and highlighted its commitment to promoting SDG-driven and impact-oriented initiatives at CAU.

Prof. Shukhrat Shadmanov (CAU Business School), who delivered a session on “Going Beyond GDP Growth” and discussed holistic approaches to development.
Dr. Pınar Yaşar (World Bank), who spoke about the World Bank’s role in supporting Uzbekistan’s reform program and its contribution to sustainable progress.
This event represents the beginning of the SDG Day series at Central Asian University, aimed at fostering dialogue, collaboration, and practical action toward achieving sustainable development goals.
