CAU and UNIST Sign Memorandum of Understanding to Strengthen Academic Collaboration Between Uzbekistan and South Korea
Central Asian University (CAU), Tashkent, has officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with UNIST (Ulsan National Institute of Science and Technology, South Korea) to promote long-term cooperation in education, research, and innovation.
UNIST is ranked 201–250 worldwide in the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings.
In addition, nine UNIST researchers have been recognized as Highly Cited Researchers by Clarivate. Clarivate is a global leader in providing trusted information and insights that accelerate the pace of innovation. These selected researchers have authored papers that rank within the top 1% by citations for their respective fields and publication year worldwide.
The signing ceremony took place during the visit of the UNIST delegation to Uzbekistan as part of its Global Outreach Strategy aimed at expanding academic partnerships in Central Asia. The agreement marks the beginning of a new phase of collaboration between two forward-thinking institutions committed to advancing global education and technology-driven learning.
Under the MOU, CAU and UNIST will work together to:
• Develop joint academic programs, including Master’s degrees, summer schools for laboratory experience, and student and faculty exchange initiatives. • Launch collaborative research projects in areas such as artificial intelligence, robotics, data science, sustainable technologies, and biomedical engineering. • Foster innovation and entrepreneurship programs that connect students and researchers from both countries.
This partnership reflects the shared vision of CAU and UNIST to build a strong educational bridge between Uzbekistan and South Korea, fostering cross-cultural exchange, joint research, and mutual growth. The collaboration will create new opportunities for students, researchers, and industry partners, contributing to the development of a knowledge-based and innovation-driven future.
