CAU Resident Represents Uzbekistan at International Maternal & Infant Health Seminar in Austria
Central Asian University proudly celebrates the international achievement of Dr. Kamila Askarova, a resident of the CAU Medical Residency Program, who was awarded a prestigious competitive grant to participate in the Maternal & Infant Health Seminar organized by the Open Medical Institute (OMI) in collaboration with the American Austrian Foundation (AAF) in Salzburg, Austria.
Held from May 31 to June 6, the intensive educational program brought together 35 healthcare professionals from 32 countries, creating a unique international platform for medical education, collaboration, and the exchange of clinical expertise. The seminar welcomed residents, physicians, and specialists dedicated to improving maternal and neonatal healthcare through evidence-based medicine and interdisciplinary learning.
Throughout the week, participants attended lectures and interactive discussions led by internationally recognized experts in obstetrics, gynecology, maternal-fetal medicine, and neonatology. The academic program explored contemporary approaches to prenatal care, management of high-risk pregnancies, neonatal intensive care, evidence-based clinical practice, and critical decision-making in complex maternal and infant health cases.
In addition to the educational sessions, participants actively exchanged professional experiences, discussed challenging clinical scenarios from their home countries, and collaborated on approaches to improving patient outcomes in diverse healthcare settings. Such international programs provide an invaluable opportunity for physicians to broaden their perspectives while building lasting professional connections with colleagues from around the world.
A particularly remarkable moment of the seminar was Dr. Askarova's presentation of a complex clinical case during the international case discussion sessions. Her presentation was recognized as the Outstanding Clinical Case Presentation, earning her the Best Clinical Case Award among all 35 participants representing 32 countries. The recognition reflects not only her strong clinical knowledge, analytical thinking, and presentation skills, but also the high level of medical training provided through the CAU Medical Residency Program.
