AKFA Group and Central Asian University announce the start of construction of the Central Asian University Hospital in partnership with Cleveland Clinic
Tashkent, September 18, 2025 - AKFA Group, together with Central Asian University (CAU), has launched the construction of the Central Asian University Hospital (CAU Hospital) in Tashkent, which will become the largest medical facility in the region. The hospital is being built in a strategic partnership with Cleveland Clinic, one of the world’s leading medical centers, as part of the Cleveland Clinic Connected program.
CAU Hospital is being created as a Center of Excellence, where care, education, and research are integrated into a single quality ecosystem. The hospital will have 120 beds and will be able to treat up to 269,000 patients annually.
Architecture and Scale
Total area: 91,500 m² (two construction phases: 55,000 m² and 36,500 m²)
The project was developed by the international firm HKS (USA)
Modular architecture allows for flexible adaptation to new technologies
The facility will include: an admissions and diagnostic department, 8 operating rooms (including 2 hybrid), obstetrics block, departments of therapy, pediatrics, oncology, women’s health, intensive care
A simulation center and training labs for students and residents
A helicopter pad directly connected to the emergency and intensive care departments; the radius for emergency services will be up to 350 km
CAU Hospital will become a "live clinical base" for students and residents. Simulation technologies and hands-on practice under the guidance of mentors will prepare the next generation of specialists — confident, tech-savvy, and ethical.
CAU Hospital will be part of the healthcare ecosystem of Central Asian University and AKFA Group. In 2025, the first social medical startup in the country, AKFA Medline Social, was launched, which will be able to provide free medical services to up to 500,000 patients annually, without queues or bureaucracy. Together, they are creating a new level of accessibility and quality in healthcare.
Simultaneously, a project is underway to expand the CAU campus over 45 hectares with an investment of $350 million. The campus will include a new Medical School for about 4,000 students, a Dental School for about 1,500 students, an Engineering School for 1,800 students and 200 postgraduates, as well as modern laboratories, digital infrastructure, and educational spaces.
